It rains and the grass grows

Spring comes and the leaves bud

The sun shines and the flowers bloom

Seeds are planted and they sprout

But I keep waiting for you

The sprinkler is on and the grass greens

I spray the hose and the plants perk up

I trim the bushes and they grow back

It rains and the drought ends

But I keep waiting for you

The chill in the air makes the leaves brown

They change colors and they fall

I rake a big pile and the yard is clear

A turkey is in the oven and it cooks to perfection

But I keep waiting for you

It snows and the river freezes

I shovel the snow so the driveway is clear

Salt on the sidewalk makes the ice melt

I hang two stockings again and they get filled

But I keep waiting for you

The sun shines and the snow melts

The grass gets longer and needs to be cut

The roses are blooming and placed in a vase

A year has gone by

But I will keep on waiting for you
